Avery Marie Berlin and Steven Jacob Lisenbe were joined in marriage on October 28, 2017 at The Oaks Plantation in Pike Road. Rabbi Barry Altmark officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Alan and Deborah Berlin and the groom is the son of Ms. Annette Dixon and Mr. Steven Lisenbe. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Her maid of honor was Danielle Berlin, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included Erin Lisenbe, Jami Smith, Kelly Paparella , Gloria Lisenbe , Marian Bickers , Hannah Davis, Marisa Ziman and Darcy Perkins.
The groom’s brother Luke Lisenbe served as best man and groomsmen included Cole Lisenbe, Steve Smith, Timothy Kimbrough, Cliff Paparella , Ryan Hinton, Thomas Hinton, Caleb Hinton and Daniel Patterson.
The couple enjoyed a jewish tradition called Hakafot (circling of the groom) during the ceremony, where the bride circles the groom seven times. It symbolizes the creation of a spiritual home for the two of them. Chuppah, (a canopy the couple stands under) which symbolizes the physical home they are building together, was also a special part of the ceremony. Prior to the wedding, Jake and Avery had a ketubah signing which is the official marriage document.
Guests and the happy couple were entertained at the reception by Creativity City and enjoyed delicious food prepared by Jennie Weller. Cake designer Peggy McKinney didn’t disappoint with the sweets. Crystal Strickland of Southern Posies served as wedding coordinator and florist, and Marie Mann of Omaha photographed the special event.
The couple ended the night dancing with family and friends. Hava Nagila made the reception fun as well as served as another important part of their jewish celebration.
After a honeymoon to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, the couple now resides in Birmingham.
