Every wedding is unique and the McClain-McCoy ceremony had its own special grace. It was a renewing of vows of a couple happily married for thirty years.
The bride was Brenda Joy McClain-McCoy, the daughter of Mary Stewart and the Reverend Henry McClain, Sr.
The groom was William Earnest McCoy, the son of Emma R. Sanford-McCoy and Willie Williams.
Given in marriage by her father and brother, Timothy Eric, the ceremony took place on June 24, 2017 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery. The Officiant was the Reverend Dr. Calvin McTier.
Matrons of honor were the bride’s best friends – Cassandra Copeland, Lucresia Lawson , Dorothy Cowan and Juanvinetta Elliott, cousin of the bride.
Maids of honor were Dr. Lynn Boyd, adopted sister of the bride, Patricia McClain, cousin of the bride and Alicia Copeland goddaughter of the couple.
Bridesmaids included three sisters of the bride, Karina Longmire, Barbara Watkins and Bridget Ausborn, with Annie McCoy, sister-in-law of the bride, Tomekia McCoy, Cynthia McTier, Carolyn McCoy, Elizabeth McCoy, sisters of the Groom. Another sister of the groom, Vivian Lewis, and Tonya Perdue, sister-in-law of the couple, rounded out the group.
The Bethel Missionary Baptist Church was glowing with flowers and beautiful decorations, brought and arranged by the bride. Her favorite moments came when she first caught sight of her husband waiting for her as he stood near the pastor. To everybody’s delight following the wedding ceremony came the reception.
The caterer was O’Soul Queen & Jerry’s Catering Service who outdid themselves with exotic offerings to satisfy the most demanding tastes.
The couple met in November of ’86 while the groom was in the Military stationed at Ft Benning, Ga. Home on leave for the holidays in Montgomery the two met and have been living happily ever after ever since.
The original wedding took place on June 26,1987, and the vow-renewal and re-commitment of love on June 24, 2017.
The couple plans to take a second honeymoon sometime this year.
